Class 5B
I would like to take this time to welcome all parents, both new and
those already familiar to ISK, to a new school year!
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jeff Brown
and I will be your child’s classroom teacher. I am
originally from upstate New York, but have been living abroad for
the past several years. I come to ISK from the Khartoum
American School in Khartoum, Sudan, where I taught Middle School
Science for Grades 5-8. In addition to having a Master of
Education from George Mason University in the US, I am also a
trained conservation biologist (holding an MS degree in that field)
and have worked on education programs in Uganda and with UNESCO in
Laos in SE Asia. I have also worked in the field of education
as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, W. Africa. Needless to
say, I am very excited to be in Kenya with all that it has to
offer, and am extremely excited to be working in the fifth grade
this year!
Please note that on P.E. days, all students must come to school
with the appropriate gear and clothing. P.E. uniforms are
compulsory this year and flip-flop shoes and sandals are not
allowed for safety reasons.
Please note that most announcements pertaining to the Elementary
school will be included in the monthly Elementary school
newsletter, and general announcements pertaining to ISK will be in
the weekly “Thursday Thoughts”.
I am looking forward to a fun and productive year with your
child. However, as you know, I can’t do it alone.
If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, please feel
free to contact me through email via this website.
Thank you,
Jeff Brown
