Welcome to the ISK community service website!

High School community service aims to develop individuals who are :
-    reflective thinkers
-    willing to accept new challenges and new roles
-    aware and responsible towards each other, the community and the environment
-    participants in sustained, collaborative projects
-    balanced “intellectually, physically, creatively and emotionally”

The emphasis of community service will be on quality participation, growth, personal evaluation and reflection on your chosen sustained and collaborative project. It is not on the accumulation of hours.  Use the next page to plan how your project will develop and what you plan to do to achieve your ultimate goal. Consider your community service in context with your other interests and use this page to work how to balance your Creativity, Action and Service.

Students are encouraged to record all project related activities and to set goals beyond the minimum requirements. The CAS journal can serve as an excellent resource when students are completing university applications. Strive for balance between the three components of Creativity, Action and Service.

Minimum requirements are 15 hours, of which 8 hours need to be achieved outside of ISK. The focus however is on a collaborative sustainable project, so these hours should all be achieved by working towards your chosen project.
Opportunities that involve non ISK visitors on ISK campus will, in some cases, count as external hours. For example, children visiting from a local school, disabled students, orphans from a slum area, experiencing our premises would be considered external hours.
Time keeping at an ISK sports tournament would be considered internal hours.
Check first before carrying out the activity and think about how it links to your project.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE REQUIREMENTS

-    All activities must be pre-approved and should be connected to your project

-    Use the website, Ms Redler or the  service learning bulletin boards to assist with finding opportunities

-    All activities must be supervised by an adult, who should then comment and sign your journal

There is a letter attached for you to take to a community service opportunity if you feel the need.

Take photos and let me have copies for the site!!
