Welcome February
2D is busy learning about Arnold Lobel and how
his beloved characters like Owl, Mouse and Frog and Toad go through
their days with humour and friendship.
For writing, the students are hard at work crafting their first
literary non-fiction piece from the research they did on their
topic of choice.
Let's not forget Adaption and Extinction! The students are
engaged in their science unit and learning how living things adapt
in order to survive. They are thrilled at discovering
possible reasons of how feather came about or why animals have
certain characteristics that help them get food as well as protect
them themselves from predators! Did you know that lions are
colour blind? 2D sure does and can explain a possible reason
of why there are so many zebras in the Mara.
What's an array? How do you divide 40 cookies among 2D?
Borrowing from tens and hundreds? Yes, the second graders are
on hot pursue being detectives and figuring number stories of all
sorts.
What's even more exciting is the Author's Visit and 2D will learn
to write a sequel to Toni Buzzeo's No T.Rex in the Library!
Exciting indeed!
Stay tuned for next month when 2D will embark
that ends with a field trip to a farm!!
